Each competition year, FIRST teams have 6 weeks to construct a robot. A kit of parts is supplied, but the rest of the parts must be bought or fabricated. We recorded the build process of each of our robots. From conceptualization, to prototyping, to fabrication, and to testing, each step is carefully recorded.

What are the effects of FIRST?

 

The effects FIRST has on students are astounding. Statistics drawn from an independent retrospective survey have shown that when FIRST students are compared with a comparison group of students, they are:

• More than 3 times as likely to major specifically in engineering.
• Significantly more likely to expect to achieve a post graduate degree.
• More than twice as likely to expect to pursue a career in science and technology.
